HAVE TO GET A DENTAL CROWN? WHAT DO THEY INVOLVE

Posted Sep 15th, 2018

Being crowned a king is something worth bragging about but finding out that you need a dental crown may just make you confused.

Here at Today’s Dental, we perform dental crown procedures all of the time to help patients fix a variety of oral issues including:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Cosmetic enhancement
  • Decayed teeth
  • Fractured fillings
  • Large fillings
  • Tooth has a root canal

If you have never had a dental crown though, then you may not know what to expect from the procedure. Let’s take a closer look at what’s involved.

It used to be that there were two appointments involved for a dental crown appointment. During the first appointment, we would take impressions to create your crown and then give you a temporary crown for two weeks until your new crown was fabricated. During your second appointment, we would then place your permanent crown and make sure that it fits properly.

Even though that method was effective, it wasn’t exactly efficient. Here at Today’s Dental, we now offer same-day crowns to our patients. With the CEREC CAD-CAM, we can now create your new crown in about 15 minutes without any messy impressions or temporary crowns. We can complete everything in one day which saves you from having to take more time off of work for a second appointment.

As you can see, getting a dental crown is fast, easy, and effective. If you want to learn more about dental crowns or if you just want to schedule your next cleaning, contact our Edmonton office today and call us at 780-489-1010.
